White capoeira pants — the complete guide

The white abadá is the most recognisable piece of capoeira clothing. Here's what to look for, why it's white, and how to get a pair that lasts you years.

Why white?

White is the traditional colour of the abadá. It comes from the lineage of mestres and signals discipline and neutrality inside the roda. There's also a practical reason: white makes dirty technique visible. A clean abadá after a hard training is a quiet point of pride.

The right fabric

Look for heavy 100% cotton (240–280 gsm). It holds shape through meia-luas and au, breathes in warm halls, and doesn't cling when you sweat. Avoid thin polyester blends — they twist mid-movement and split at the crotch seam.

Fit & sizing

Capoeira pants are loose by design — the wide leg is part of the cut. Order your normal trouser size; the drawstring waist takes care of the rest. If you're between sizes, size down.
